Lancaster is known for its lovely parks and green spaces, including the Fairfield Nature Reserve. It’s not hard to get out and get fresh air in Lancaster. Not to mention, the massive Forest of Bowland AONB practically borders the city.
In Lancaster, students don’t have to live in the City Centre to experience the best the city has to offer. Each one of Lancaster’s neighbourhoods has something unique, whether it’s lots of local shops, calm streets, bustling nightlife, or spacious greenery.
Beyond the City
Lancaster is a great city for university students because it’s so easy to travel to other places in the region. Liverpool and Manchester are only an hour away, and the Lake District National Park is accessible by train.
The two biggest universities in Lancaster are Lancaster University and the University of Cumbria, both of which are top universities. Lancaster University is just south of the city, in Bailrigg, but it’s easy to get to by bus or car.
